Delhi Capitals signed off their IPL 2026 campaign in style with a commanding 40-run victory over Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. While KKR entered the contest with slim playoff hopes, those chances effectively vanished early in the evening due to results elsewhere, and DC capitalized with a complete all-round performance.
Powered by a blistering knock from KL Rahul and disciplined bowling led by Kuldeep Yadav and Lungi Ngidi, Delhi posted an imposing 203/5 before bundling KKR out for 163 in 18.4 overs.

Delhi Capitals Produce Their Best Batting Display
Delhi Capitals finally delivered the collective batting performance they had been searching for all season. Every batter contributed valuable runs, but it was KL Rahul who stole the spotlight with a sensational 60 off just 30 deliveries.
Abhishek Porel started aggressively with back-to-back boundaries before falling for 22. Youngster Sahil Parakh then added quick momentum with a lively cameo, helping DC reach 53/1 at the end of the Powerplay.
Rahul took complete control during the middle overs. The experienced batter attacked Sunil Narine confidently, dancing down the pitch for towering sixes and finding boundaries regularly. He reached his half-century in only 25 balls and maintained a strike rate of 200 throughout his innings.
Axar Patel provided excellent support with a quickfire 39 off 25 balls, while David Miller added late fireworks with an unbeaten 28 off 19 deliveries. Ashutosh Sharma also chipped in with crucial boundaries in the death overs as DC crossed the 200-run mark.
DC Batting Highlights
- KL Rahul: 60 off 30
- Axar Patel: 39 off 25
- David Miller: 28 off 19
- Delhi Capitals: 203/5 in 20 overs
Saurabh Dubey Impresses Despite DC’s Strong Start
Although DC dominated for large periods, Saurabh Dubey stood out for KKR with an impressive Powerplay spell. The left-arm pacer conceded only five runs in his first two overs and dismissed Abhishek Porel at a crucial stage.
Dubey finished with figures of 2/28 and was one of the few bright spots for Kolkata in an otherwise disappointing bowling performance.
Ajinkya Rahane Fights Lone Battle for KKR
Chasing 204, KKR started brightly despite losing Finn Allen during the Powerplay. Ajinkya Rahane looked in sublime touch and counterattacked the DC bowlers with clean strokeplay.
The KKR skipper smashed a rapid fifty in just 31 balls and kept the hosts alive briefly with a brilliant 63-run innings. Manish Pandey also contributed 25 off 16 balls during an important partnership.
However, wickets kept falling regularly at the other end.
Cameron Green failed to make an impact, while Rinku Singh and the lower middle order collapsed under scoreboard pressure. Rovman Powell attempted a late counterattack, but Mitchell Starc’s fiery spell ended any remaining hopes.
KKR Batting Highlights
- Ajinkya Rahane: 63
- Manish Pandey: 25
- KKR all out: 163 in 18.4 overs
Kuldeep Yadav and Ngidi Seal Clinical Win
Delhi’s bowlers executed their plans perfectly in the second innings. Lungi Ngidi removed Finn Allen and Manish Pandey at important moments to halt KKR’s momentum.
Kuldeep Yadav then turned the game completely in DC’s favor with a match-winning spell. The left-arm spinner dismissed Cameron Green before removing both Rahane and Rinku Singh in successive deliveries.
Kuldeep finished with outstanding figures of 3/29, while Ngidi claimed 3/27. Mitchell Starc cleaned up the tail with a devastating 18th over that completely crushed KKR’s resistance.
KKR’s Playoff Dream Ends in Disappointment
Kolkata Knight Riders’ season ended in frustration after a late surge in the tournament had briefly revived their playoff hopes. Despite entering the match with momentum, they failed to handle Delhi’s balanced attack and suffered a heavy defeat at home.
For Delhi Capitals, the victory served as a positive finish to an inconsistent IPL 2026 campaign. KL Rahul’s explosive batting and Kuldeep Yadav’s brilliance with the ball offered plenty of positives heading into the next season.
